As we close the year 2017, the Fund has almost cleared their backlog of claims submitted in 2015 for award determinations. In their recent report, the Fund indicates that there are only about 200 claims submitted before January 1, 2016, that remain to be decided. The Fund has advised that they are now reviewing 2016 claims, most of which were filed after the Fund reopened in August 2016, following the Reauthorization of the Zadroga Act.

As we enter 2018, the Fund expects to issue award determinations within 18 months of the claim being submitted. Their goal is to reduce the average to 12 months.
